2012 London Olympics: Terpstra Remains in RR, Won't Participate in TT
As Niki Terpstra continues to recover from his crash at Tour de Pologne in the first stage last week, he has decided to not participate in the 2012 Olympic Time Trial, but to remain a participant in the 2012 Olympic Road Race.
Lars Boom (Rabobank) will replace Terpstra in the time trial event.
"I trained today and it was not so bad," Terpstra said on Monday. "But today I took the decision to not participate in the Olympic TT. To ride the TT you have to be 100 percent fit and also the position on the TT bike after my crash is not so easy. I need time to recover and be 100 percent competitive on the road!"
